Diagram of a bowling alley showing the bowling end, strike zone, side scoring zones, and playing area with labeled measurements of 40 meters length and widths of 25 and 40 meters. It depicts players, ball, wicket area, and an arrow indicating the strike zone, with the scoring zones on each side.

batball unique rules:

batting:

  • introduction of ‘scoring zones’: 2 runs on the sides + usual 4 & 6 straight

  • contact with the bat = 1 run

  • 3 misses = out

  • out also gives the batting team -5 runs

bowling:

  • introduction of the ‘strike zone’: an area in front of the batter where the ball must bounce (no direct throws or full tosses)

  • throwing/pitching allowed (no traditional roll of the arm required)

  • no wides or no balls. if the ball doesn’t land in the strike zone, you ball it again.

general:

  • can be played 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, up to 8v8 (depending on the size of the playing area)

  • can be played anywhere with playing area markers

  • new design of bats, balls & wickets

  • no powerplays, lbw’s, leg byes, or run outs

  • less ways to get out, more ways to score runs

  • takes less time, is more fast-paced, and is easier to learn
